Meetings

Annual membership assemblies are an important part of SWEET to facilitate the collaboration within the worldwide network, the work on specific projects and the decision-making process. The official annual meeting takes place once a year for two days, the meeting venue changes from year to year. Please see below what has been discussed during the last meetings. SWEET members are able to download the meeting minutes in the secured member area.

As many SWEET members are attending the ISPAD conferences the SWEET group is having a small meeting during the conference, where the ISPAD kindly welcomes us.

The next legal entity meeting will take place on April 11th and 12th 2018 in Florence, Italy.

The eighth legal entity meeting of SWEET e.V.

The eighth meeting of SWEET e.V. was held on March 9th and 10th in Paris, France where Sanofi kindly welcomed us. 74 SWEET members attended the meeting, 16 from outside of Europe and 6 members from new SWEET centers. The meeting agenda included the following topics:

The main topics at this meeting in Hannover were:

  • Lessons from the SWEET Peer Review Process
  • Ongoing and new scientific projects, upcoming abstracts, publications and research matters
  • News from the benchmarking / current data / DPV
  • Centers from Emerging Countries: What do they wish from SWEET and what can SWEET do?
  • Peer Review Program revision
  • Patient reported outcomes
  • New parameters for the SWEET dataset
  • Case presentations
  • Centers presentations: report from the work in Paris, France; San José, Costa Rica and Denver, USA
  • Publication policy and update of bylaws
  • New centers, current applications, future strategies
  • SWEET e.V. business (finances / strategic plan for 2017)

Decisions taken by the SWEET members:

  • The SWEET members decided that centers with less than 150 patients who can’t be certified as a Center of Reference or Collaborative Center will be called: Associated Centers
  • New parameters for the dataset were discussed, and voted. Our data team in Ulm has updated the dataset accordingly
  • SWEET membership fee structure was revised based on the income of the country of residence according to the World Bank
  • Next SWEET meetings:
    • Small meeting during ISPAD 2017 in Innsbruck, Austria, date needs to be confirmed
    • Next annual meeting in 2018 in Florence, Italy where Lilly kindly welcomes us

The seventh legal entity meeting of SWEET e.V.

The seventh legal entity meeting of SWEET e.V. took place on April 7th to 8th, 2016, in Tolochenaz, Switzerland. The meeting was very successful.

The sixth legal entity meeting of SWEET e.V.

The sixth legal entity meeting of SWEET e.V. was held March 19th – March 20th 2015 in Paris, France. SWEET would like to thank the participants for coming and contributing to a fruitful meeting. We hope to see you at our next official meeting in Tolochenaz, Switzerland on April 7th-8th, 2016. Please save the date!

SWEET e.V. funded travel costs and accommodation for all participants from SWEET centres (1 person/centre only, 1 night only). Travel costs are funded through reimbursement, therefore please do not forget to send the travel costs invoice to us.

The fifth legal entity meeting of SWEET e.V.

The fifth legal entity meeting of SWEET e.V. was held April 2nd to April 3rd in Berlin, Germany.

SWEET would like to thank the participants for coming and contributing to a fruitful meeting in Germanys capital city! The SWEET members will receive a report about the meeting. We hope to see you at our next official meeting on March 19th/20th 2015 in Paris. Please save the date!

The fourth legal entity meeting of SWEET e.V.

The fourth legal entity meeting of SWEET e.V. took place in Hannover, Germany on 19-20th November 2013. The “Hannoversche Kinderheilanstalt” was very pleased to welcome all during its 150th anniversary year.

SWEET would like to thank the participants for coming to Hannover and contributing to a very cheerful and fruitful meeting! We have discussed a lot of topics and defined how to move forward in the next year.

Informal SWEET meeting at the ISPAD conference in Toronto

The first informal SWEET Meeting during ISPAD in Gothenburg was very well attended and fruitful, so we took the chance again and scheduled a meeting in Toronto. Some food and beverages helped to replace the official coffee brake at this time in the ISPAD program.

The meeting took place at Sheraton Centre Toronto, 123 Queen Street West, 2. floor, conference room Elgin on Thursday, September 4th 2014, from 9.30 am until 11 am

The main topics at this meeting were:

  • SWEET News (involvement in European Initiatives)
  • Process of approving SWEET Data access
  • Introduction of the new SWEET IT-partner Prof. Reinhard Holl and presentation of software DPV
  • Evaluation of SWEET Data: Seasonality at onset of type 1 diabetes

Informal SWEET meeting at the ISPAD conference in Gothenburg

Since many SWEET members attended the ISPAD conference in Gothenburg, Sweden, it was decided to schedule an informal SWEET meeting during the conference for all interested members.

The meeting took place at The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre, Gothenburg, Conference room R25 floor plan, on Thursday, October 17th, 12.30h -13.30h and included a light lunch (sandwiches and coffee/tea/soft drinks).

The main topics were:

  • Get together and get to know each other
  • Exchanging news and getting a feeling for additional SWEET issues and topics for the November meeting
  • Current Certification Process and the new centres
  • SWEET Paediatric Diabetes Peer Review Proposal (Audit) by the NHS
